Question 5. How did you attract/address your audience?

I addressed my audience as if I’m a friend of theirs, so we’re on the same wavelength, and reading is easier a fluent as I had written it informally and hadn’t used literate vocabulary. This way I have a connection with the audience and I have their trust, by doing this I can give facts when reviewing something and then give my opinion, weather they choose to agree with me or not is in their hands which is how I prefer it to be rather than me making a biased comment and the whole audience follows me.

How I attracted my audience was by adapting to their tastes, an example of this is that the majority of my audience are “scene kids”( the kids with the big hair, and love bright colours, otherwise known as the happy emo) so to adapt to their interests ( the bright colours) i made the magazines theme colours, black white and electric blue. The colour of things is a good way to get their attention to following magazine conventions my masthead has a large bold font which is positioned at the top of the page, joined with the electric blue, creates a beacon like a lighthouse that in a way attracts/ saves the poor scene kids from not knowing what magazine to buy and leads them to mine.

I included known bands in the cover lines, new fashion icons/ designs dotted cleverly within the cover lines, main image ( as 2 of the band members are wearing the companies clothing) and again there an advertisement on the contents page to lure them in to buy the magazine.

Going back to the main image(the band photo) some members have the “scene kid” hair style going on, the alternative fashion sense if not wearing known brands people will recognise, but most importantly the gaze is directly into the camera, which quite usefully looks as though the members are looking straight into the eyes of the readers with once again creates that connection changes a shop magazine browser into a potential customer.
